In an ever present attempt to offer the community more variety at Studio UFO during the Art Walks, I will be showing my work that deals with Downtown itself. Not only will I be showing street scenes, I will also be displaying many of the Georgia Pacific Paintings done over several years, en plein air and while the deconstruction was taking place. Many of you already know my commitment to Art in the Downtown and this is proof positive. Here are two paintings that I finished this winter.I am well aware that I am living in a historical time for Bellingham and am immersed in that change with my paintings. I also have “Stitched” the Double Triptych displayed now in front of my Studio. This painting depicts a 360 degree vision of Downtown Bellingham in 6 panels, each measuring 4×6 feet.

I have a new thing going on at Studio UFO during Art Walk. Each Art Walk I will select a painting that has a normal retail price of $600-$1100 and I will offer that painting as a “Walk Away Painting” for $300. If the painting does not walk away for that price it will go back into my inventory at the regular price. This is a chance for someone who connects with a particular piece to be able to walk away with an opportunity to own an original painting for a great price. I wonder what painting I will select…Come on down on Friday July 3, 6-10pm and see!
Speaking of Downtown…don’t forget the Downtown Bellingham Plein Air Paint Out and Exhibition 2009, PAPO.

Rocky Mountains #1, oil by Nancy Woodward
The double triptych, “Stitched” that I painted last year comes down today and we are hanging wonderful, stylized landscapes by Nancy Woodward. If you are in Fairhaven go to WECU to see the local, original art.
Thank you, WECU for supporting local, organic, original art in Bellingham.

We are going to discuss design in Open Studio this week. We will talk about how nature designs fruits & vegetables to not only look like a body part, but how that fruit or vegetable, in fact, promotes the health and well being of that particular body part; such as
A tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.
What about Walnuts, Avacado, Kidney Beans and Grapes?
How do we put this design information to work to improve our personal design for our paintings?

Ryan always looked UP!
A new show is in the making called Altitude. For the month of September you will be able to view my new work at the Blue Horse Gallery with the artist reception on Friday September 4, 6-10pm.
This will mark a year anniversary for me that will be heartfelt. Ryan fell on September 7, 2008. I sincerely hope that you will come share the evening with me. The show is not only a tribute to Ryan’s amazing spirit but my way to share that spirit with others. If you have lost someone you cherish or if you are a risk taker don’t miss this show. I would love to hear your stories.
Live while you are alive!
Peace,
Trish

Each day I get up I think of something that I am thankful for regarding living in Bellingham. Today, it is the Depot Market which we spent the afternoon at, met several really colorful, fabulous friends both visiting the Market and some venders.
