YOU ARE INVITED!  Please join me on Friday Dec 7, 7-10pm at ALLIED ARTS GALLERY, 1418 Cornwall Ave for the unveiling of my newest piece.  It is a stitched together view of Downtown Bellingham, three feet by 24 feet!  This painting is accompanied by an audio piece that allows the viewer to experience it and engage with the experience more fully.  This is just one painting in my new show.  I will also have new plein air paintings of the local area and icons.  Pearl Yewell’s work will also be on display and a sculpted cake by renown cake maker Andy Millage of “Let Them Eat Cake”.

2^nd Annual Downtown Bellingham Plein Air Paint Out & Show-PAPO 2007

On August 25^th over 50 local artists set up their easels and painted downtown Bellingham to raise awareness about the need to retain sustainable downtown artist studio spaces during gentrification of Bellingham.  On November 16^th the show opened at the Blue Horse Gallery to a throng of art lovers. The People’s Choice Award was voted on by the public.  The results are:

• People’s Choice Award-Laurie Potter, “Overlook”, pastel, 16 votes
• 1^st & 2^nd runner up, tied-Dave Nichols, “Way to the Sound”, oil, 14 votes 
•                                          -Candice Buethorn, “Time for Downtown”, watercolor, 14 votes

CONGRATULATIONS to Laurie and all the participants of PAPO 2007.

Artists Reception Friday February 15 ^th, 6-9pm  Show will run through February 28^th

The purpose of this exhibition is to inspire artists to stretch and produce work that is provocative and startling using the nude as inspiration.  This is a loose criterion, which could result in full nudity, partial nudity, implied nudity or abstracted nudity.  This is an opportunity for each artist to paint and show the most exciting, outrageous piece that he or she has always wanted to paint.  Keeping in that spirit, artwork will be judged by the following point system, 70 points possible.

 a.      1-10 points for translation of the theme…”Nudes on Parade”b.      1-10 points for interpretation of the figurec.       1-10 points for use of colord.      1-10 points for presentatione.       1-10 points for professionalismf.        1-10 points for technique explorationg.      1-10 points for energy/dynamic Eligibility

• Artist must be 18 years or older and a resident of the Pacific NW.
• Entries must be two dimensional, entirely the work of the entrant, and any medium.
• Entries must be original, no photographs or Xerox, giclee or other reproduction.
• Because of space limitations no sculpture will be accepted.
• Up to two paintings per artist may be included in this exhibition.
• The Exhibition will be hosted by The Trish Harding School of Art at Studio UFO Gallery & Blue Horse Gallery at Bay Street Village Building.

Conditions

• Minimum framed size is 16” in any direction.
• Maximum framed size is 4’ in any direction
• Work must be sturdily framed and ready to hang, including wire that hangs 2 ½ “ from the top of frame.  No saw tooth hangers or glass/clips. NO EXCEPTIONS

·         Studio UFO Gallery, Blue Horse Gallery and Magic Draw reserve the right to refuse any work that does not meet the criteria or is not suitable for the exhibition mission.

·         All artists are expected to attend the artist’s reception and invite family, friends & clients.

Entry Fees

• Non-refundable entry fee of $25 is payable by check only to Trish Harding.
• Up to two paintings can be entered for the $25 fee.
• Entries will be juried from your digital image on a CD.  Please label with Number, Name, Title, Medium, Size and Price (in that order).
• CD’s will not be returned.
• An entry form must accompany the CD, Entry Fee, and Numbered Image List.
• The entry must be postmarked or hand delivered no later than Dec 31, 2007.
• Entries received after the deadline Dec 31, 2007 pay $50 and absolutely no entries will be accepted after Jan 15, midnight.

Shipping

•  If you have to ship your piece please send to Studio UFO 301 W Holly St. Bellingham, WA 98225.
• Any art that is not received by Tuesday, 12^th will not be able to be hung.
• Send return shipping instructions for shipping charges, i.e. credit card number/expire date.
• Your piece will be returned in box it is shipped in.
• There is a $15 handling fee in addition to shipping costs.

Sales

• ALL ARTWORK MUST BE FOR SALE.
• Title of artwork, Name of artist, Medium, Image size and Price should be clearly marked on lower right back of piece.
• The commission will be 40% for each artwork sold.
• Checks for sold artwork will be mailed two weeks after the last day of the show.

Photography

·         The Gallery reserves the right to photograph entries and artists to use photographs for the purposes of documentation, publicity and encouragement of interaction in the arts.

Liability

·         Every reasonable precaution will be taken during the receiving, installation, and exhibition of work.  The Gallery assumes no responsibility for loss or damage incurred.

·         Artwork not picked up at the designated time will become the property of Magic Draw and no further legal claims can be made in the future.
